Having a financial plan to underpin our life plan is crucial. Think of it like a journey. Maybe we have a fixed destination, maybe right now, just a loose direction of travel. Either way we need sufficient 'financial fuel' to be able to make that journey real and achievable.
Like any journey there will be times we may want to put our foot down and may use up our financial assets faster. Then at other times we are happy to cruise along economically.
The secret is in understanding and being in control of our journey. Knowing we have a solid, sustainable plan to make it happen in the way we want.
When Life and Financial Plan are applied across both your life and in your career, it becomes a real superpower; helping you to show up at your best, day-in-day-out and make true progress towards your destination.
Why is there a problem to Fix?
A significant challenge for almost anyone in the modern world stems from three key realities:
1. No Access to Financial Guidance and Financial Literacy.
We are not taught in the current education system, many even at higher levels, how to manage our finances; understand our taxes; why or how to save; or how to read and understand a payslip. Even in the workplace where we could once rely on colleagues around us, in an increasingly remote working environment, we don’t always have access to (or feel comfortable to) lean on those around us to guide us.
2. Money is a Taboo subject
In the UK, throughout the generations, ‘money’ has always been a very private, almost taboo subject. We don’t talk about it with our colleagues, friends, families or in some cases even loved ones and partners. If we aren’t going to talk about such an important topic how can we up-skill and empower ourselves?
3. The world of Social Media can breed bad habits
More and more of us access Social Media and the world of ‘Influencers’, whether direct or indirect, as a guiding light on how we should live our lives. Embracing a ‘YOLO’ culture often carries with it a feeling of ‘lack’ - that we are missing out or not providing for loved ones in the way others might be. This can encourage an approach to finances that is not controlled or managed with fundamental good habits.

What we MAKE – Income, Benefits, Inheritance or similar
What we SPEND - Necessities, Desires, Extravagances or similar
What we SAVE - Rainy Days, Holidays, Supporting Others or similar
What we INVEST - Property, Pensions, Nest Eggs or similar
Weaving the above into a balance of living a happy life in the moment, reaching personal life goals; saving for the long term and retirement; and building a financial legacy for loved ones.
Being empowered to be in control of your financial flow and understanding how each decision impacts your life journey means you can make consistent good decisions throughout your life, free of the anxiety that arises from a feeling of uncertainty or lack of control.
